Professional Career
1970: Selected for the Indian Administrative Service and for the Indian Foreign Service.
Opted for the I.A.S. and was allotted the Maharashtra Cadre.
Attended the National Academy of Administration; underwent Military Attachment with the 17 Poona Horse, 4 Horse, & 12 Grenadier Guards.
Posted as District Officer in Pune, Kolhapur, & Ahmednagar Districts; Deputy Managing Director & then Managing Director of SICOM (The State Industrial & Investment Corporation of Maharashtra), ex-officio: Member of the Board of Directors of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd. among several other enterprises.
Selected for Central deputation & appointment in the Union Cabinet Secretariat (Department of Cabinet Affairs), Government of India; then for the Ministry of Defence (Department of Defence); then Ministry of Industry (Department of Heavy Industry), and then the Department of Industrial Development.
On completion of Central deputation, returned to the State Government of Maharashtra, and posted as The Collector & District Magistrate of Bhandara District (now Bhandara and Gondia Districts); posted as the first Administrator of the newly created Municipal Corporation of the City of Thane; Secretary to the Governor of Maharashtra & Chancellor of State Universities in Maharashtra.
Selected again for Central deputation, and appointed as Secretary to the Vice-President of India/Chairman of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), Parliament of India; then as Additional Secretary to the President of India, Visitor of Central Universities, IITs, & simultaneously : Additional Secretary-General of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), Parliament of India.
Next appointed as The Secretary to the President of India (in the rank of Secretary to the Government of India, & ex-officio: Member of the Government of India’s Padma Awards Selection Committee; then: Secretary-General of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha),Parliament of India
